Colorado Honeymoon Ideas That Feel Like You

Your wedding day goes by fast. Faster than you expect. The honeymoon is where things finally slow down. Where you wake up without alarms, breathe deeper, and realize you are married!!!

Colorado is the kind of place that lets that sink in.

Whether you want mountains outside your window, quiet mornings by the water, or somewhere that feels a little wild and untouched, a Colorado ho

neymoon gives you space to just be together.

Why Colorado Is Such a Good Honeymoon Choice

Colorado has a way of meeting you where you are. You can keep things simple or turn it into an adventure. You can stay cozy in a cabin or explore somewhere new every day. Below are some Colorado Honeymoon Ideas for the best spots to check out..

Some favorite honeymoon locations include:

  1. Rocky Mountain National Park

Big views, quiet trails, and that feeling of being completely surrounded by nature. Sunrise here feels sacred. It is peaceful, grounding, and incredibly romantic without trying too hard.

  1. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park

Sheer cliffs, deep shadows, and a sense of scale that makes everything else feel quiet. This place feels dramatic and still at the same time. Mornings and evenings here are calm, uncrowded, and powerful.

  1. Colorado National Monument

Red rock canyons, winding rim drives, and wide open desert views. It feels warm, expansive, and a little unexpected for Colorado. Sunset light here is soft and slow.

  1. Ouray

A small mountain town surrounded by waterfalls and steep peaks. Everything feels close and walkable. Hot springs, quiet streets, and alpine air make it ideal for slowing down.

  2. Crested Butte

Wildflower meadows in the summer, moody skies in the fall, and a laid back feel year round. It feels local, creative, and less polished in the best way.

  3. Steamboat Springs

A mountain town with a slower pace and a more lived in feel. Hot springs, river walks, and open skies. It feels relaxed and real, not rushed.

  4. Great Sand Dunes National Park (personal favorite)

If you want something unexpected, this is it. Sand dunes that stretch forever, quiet mornings, and light that feels cinematic. It does not look like anywhere else in Colorado.

Want to remember your honeymoon? Adding a Photo Session to your Colorado Must to-do list.

A honeymoon photo session works best when it fits into what you are already doing , not when it becomes the focus of the day.

Here are a few easy ways couples usually include it

  • After a sunrise walk If you are already waking up early for sunrise, especially in places like Estes Park or near alpine lakes, this is the easiest time to add photos. You walk, take in the view, spend a short amount of time taking photos, then go get breakfast.

  • At sunset, before dinner Sunset is often already part of the plan. Photos at this time usually take thirty minutes or less and do not interrupt the rest of the evening.

How Long It Actually Takes

Most honeymoon sessions are short.

Thirty to sixty minutes is common. It is enough time to get meaningful photos without turning it into a scheduled event.

The photos from the right is from a quick 20-minute photoshoot in Denver that I did for Valentines Day at Cheesman Park. This was perfect for the couple before they went out to dinner in Down-town Denver at one of their favorite high end restaurants. It was quick, to the point and oh so cute!

Why Couples Like Doing Photos This Way

Because it feels like part of the trip.

There is no timeline pressure, no guests waiting, and no rush to be anywhere else. You are already present. The photos simply document what the honeymoon already feels like.

I would love to work with you!
